Definition of "Spam"

To indiscriminately send unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant, or inappropriate messages, especially commercial advertising in mass quantities. Noun: electronic "junk mail".

MEFilter comprises a suite of programs with the sole objective of preventing spam reaching the User’s Malbox. These various MEFilter programs use multiple methods including, but not limited to Spam, Attachment, GAP and Challenge / Response to identify and manage Spam.

MEFilter enjoys a very high degree of customization, where each of the filters can be configured and enabled or disabled at a Global Server Level or at a Domain Level. Filtering like the Challenge / Response is configured at the email address level. When an email is processed and it matches any filter’s condition, a predetermined action is executed on that email. The actions include Marking, Deleting or Holding and much more…

MEConsole is an Administrator program suite. Use MEConsole to configure MEFilter and monitor the flow of emails as they are processed by the main program. MEConsole displays the contents of the various email Holding Areas providing the user various options including: viewing held emails, Releasing, Forwarding or Deleting.

A History Lesson.

The history of MEFilter dates back to 2002. My name is Martyn and I live and work in Hong Kong. I am originally from the UK but moved out here in 2000 to work for a UK financial software company.

I own MEFilter which was borne from a personal need. I was looking at replacing my existing mail server with something that was cheaper and had a good level of functionality. So I spent a while shopping around and testing the various email servers that where available on the market, chose Mail Enable. Starting off with the Standard version of Mail Enable and then moving on to the Professional version. The program performed well with the exception of the large volume unwanted and unsolicited (spam) email that the server was having to process and deliver. Apart from anti-virus filtering in the Pro version there was no way to try and stop this flow of unwanted mail included in the MailEnable products. So using the user definable pickup event that can be called during the emails passage through the MailEnable MTA process, I started to write some code to do basic filtering. The rest as they say is history…
