Filtering Korean emails
I'm getting an extraordinary amount of Korean spam every day (hundreds). They all have "charset=koi8-r" in the header so I have added that to the Spamdelete Phrases editor but it's not catching any. The editor seems to remove the "" and hyphen. What is the best way of entering a phrase like this ?

Re: Filtering Korean emails
I'd do the exact same thing but I have no doubt it would cause a problem with at least one of our clients. I think we manage around 125 domains which translates to ~700 mailboxes... which means we often have to ditch the easy fix to please clients. Maybe I'll sneak a new country into the B/L each day and play stupid -- I mean do they REAAALLLY need to receive emails from Romania?!
rjay, let me know if you add "koi8-r" to your phrases and if it works for you.  Better yet, let me know if you're using a phrase that works better.

Re: Filtering Korean emails

I'm pretty ruthless with handling unsolicited email - I have 80% of countries B/L and have reduced my spam to a very small %% now. Would never expect a legit email from them!!

Re: Filtering Korean emails
Very true and that's actually the method I used first but after looking at the IPs, I noticed they originated from all over the world. Mainly Germany, Poland, Turkey, Italy, China, the US/UK... and that was just the first 15 emails or so. I gave up on that but so far, the koi8-r phrase has worked well enough. Then again, the OP is getting Korean content whereas I've been getting Russian. Hopefully he lucks out and they all originate from Korea.

Re: Filtering Korean emails
The other option available, if you are not expecting email from KR, is  to set Country IP Blacklist. That will give you blanket coverage.

Re: Filtering Korean emails
I was having the same problem -- the quotes are stripped, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, because there are a set of characters removed before the phrases are even checked.  In the end, I just added "koi8-r" without the quotes and in the past week or so, its caught 929 emails.  I noticed that some are still leaking through so you might play with spaces on either side to see if that helps.

I'd say with that one entry alone, its probably cut about 75% of those emails.  I thought it was Russian though haha
